One of the north-east's original country-rock bands started life in the mid-90s as Virginia Slims but had to change the name after an impending law suit!
The Katy Freeway has been gigging steadily for the last 10 years in pubs and clubs around the northeast. High points include the Hardrock Cafe Toronto and Drury Lane Theatre, West End.
The band is a five piece with great three part harmonies and features pedal steel, lap steel and accordion as well as the more regular bass, drums and guitars. Celia Bryce, our amazing lead singer, has an impressive solo album out [see amazon & iTunes] of her original material, some of which we feature in the set as well as numbers by the Eagles, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Brookes & Dunn, Ry Cooder, JJ Cale and some earlier 60s/70s material
